Ramen House and Culinary Arts...

Ok soooo im actually not a big fan of Ramen, But i can certainly understand it for those who are, There is sheer art to its preparation, and the dedication that the japanese put into this dish!
My husband however is a huge fan of Ramen so every now and then we visit a Ramen house so that he can indulge his senses, I still enjoy myself and just take in bits of my surroundings, I am also not a big fan of sweets but like Ramen i can appreciate why others do and its beauty I honestly do not know how people eat these things they simply look too good to eat, so tonight the husband and I visited the ramen house where i took some photos of the lights and then La Monde a japanese french bakery where we picked up some treats for him and the kids observe....

Wild Boar and Winter at Night :)

Sooooo tonight was my first time ever trying wild boar, i have to say its much different than i expected, its a darker meat unlike regular pork, and more steakish thank porkish if thats any help for a description at all, not as fatty, and a bit chewier kind of like a well done steak or jerky, the flavor was great, we ate at Aburi-An a japanese yakiniku house, I honestly was not expecting the wild boar I just ordered a plate of meat and the waiter was sure to warn us americans that this part was wild boar ha ha there always so considerate, I soooo love that, but I do like to try things i have never tried and was excited to find out that this wasnt your regular pork!

One other thing that we tried which I have to say scared me a little bit, well ok i have tried it but never on purpose was raw chicken, we ordered chicken rolls covered in a apricot sauce and i just assumed it was cooked chicken hehe well it was lightly seared then rolled up so that the inside of the entire roll was raw chicken, but i figured ehhh if there serving it to us its probably safe and popped it into my mouth ok quite tasty in fact....... buttttt like my stepfathers insane yummy ahi tuna that is meant to only be seared then raw on the inside i can only block my mind out to only taste for so long! i ended up tossing those lil chicken rolls onto the grill for a few ( i know BLAH bad) all in all this place was great i give it an 8 combining ambiance, price, service and quality of food!

small night on the town...

Shimoda a nice little city in japan that my family and I like to hit every now and then on the weekends, The mall has many choices of cuisine and im always shocked that you can find such quality on something like, Italian food for example here in japan of cource every country has there own spin on food from different cultures for example we ordered a rice ball filled with cheese that was covered in panko and fried, then topped in an italian tomato meat sauce it was delicious, but here for the most part the italian food was quite authentic, and they had imported wines from Italy as well, My choice was a salad covered with a prisciutto cudo, (a raw ham cured the italian way) The dressing was great an olive oil vinegerette with a hint of sweetness! My husband and i shared some wine from northern italy, I like wine alot but am no connoisseur possibly in the near future :P

Next we went to the arcades you deffinately cannot go into the malls in japan and not visit the arcades there bright lights and sounds call to you! My husband and I walked the mall exploring and it was a lovely evening we were there for over four hrs and the time just flys.

ahhhh Trip to korea!

It is hard to even know where to start here, so i spent 10 days in korea while my husband was there on assignment for 6 mos, Arriving in korea was so exciting for me, i have heard so many horrible things about korea and most people view it well as a dirty version of japan is one thing i have been told, yes it absolutely was not as clean as far as garbage is concerned, they have trash bins near telephone poles but on the busy streets they fill up quickly by the end of the day it just looks like a pile of garbage, i just said to myself HA well atleast its all in a pile and they pick it all up every evening, atleast there not as uptight! I found the people were VERY friendly to my suprise so accomodating and helpful, i was greeted by the hotel owner an old korean guy every time i passed through the lobby, he would make some conversation and ask if i needed anything even give me free soda, my son juice boxes and im not picky about the rain so a hoody is fine but he insisted on giving me an umbrella when i would leave on a rainy day to walk around, then there is shopping in all the little shops throughout every street around me, OF COURCE there nice they want to sell stuff, if its all just a front to sell things i dont mind you can lie to me and be warm and inviting lol fake or not it was great that in every store people took intrest and conversated with huge inviting smiles! I would think that in a foreign country especially one such as korea that i would be nervous to walk the streets alone, but i fealt so comfortable there, i would walk the streets in the day shopping on my own and go out alone at night just a few blocks down the street to pick up food! There was an AWESOME little hot wing shop just a couple blocks away, and well it had been awhile since being in the states and about 1/4 mile from my hotel room was a mcdonalds yes yes i know going to asia and eating american food shame shame but its necessary sometimes, like at midnight when most everything else is closed and youve had a few sodju's. Everything is cheap in korea as well and you can have about anything you can think of custom made! OK so i better wrap this up last thing it was exhilerating walking the foreign streets of korea everywhere i looked there was something new and even the simplest things were so exciting ,i certainly hope to visit again one day!
